Excitement has reached a fever pitch in the Coal City. With just 10 days remaining until the 2nd Enugu City International Marathon on Saturday, August 29, 2026, thousands of athletes are making their final preparations to compete for medals, substantial prize money, and ultimate bragging rights.
Organized by Nilayo Sports Management and fully endorsed by the Enugu State Government, the highly anticipated race has attracted a massive influx of elite runners, grassroots talents, and fitness enthusiasts from across Nigeria, the African continent, and the diaspora.
Marathon Expo and Pre-Race Festivities :
To build momentum ahead of race day, organizers are putting the finishing touches on the official Marathon Expo. This dynamic, week-long festival of sports, music, wellness, and business showcases will serve as the mandatory kit pick-up center for all registered runners and will feature exciting brand activations from various corporate sponsors.
The pre-race activities will culminate in the World Press Conference scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026. This major media event will bring together government officials, race organizers, elite athletes, and sponsors to unveil the full prize structure, detail the security arrangements, and share final race-day logistics.

Starting Point : ShopRite, Abakaliki Road - 10km Fun Run. : Start Time: 8:30 AM
Starting Point : Chris Tee Petrol Station, CIC Road
Finish Line : Opara Square (Concluding by 12:30 PM)
The organizing committee has assured the public that comprehensive security, medical, hydration, and traffic management plans are fully operational. Every agency is working in lockstep to guarantee a safe, seamless, and world-class experience for both participants and spectators.
