.

Augustina Stockbrink, the mother of the FC Monchengladbach Football Academy and a Nigerian-German football player David Stockbrink, has revealed why her son has admiration for the Super Eagles while making it clear that he dreams of playing for the Nigerian national team in the near future.

The Umunede in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State married to a German national said that her son has never hidden his love for Nigerian football and its array of stars and has now said that he hopes to one-day don the Eagles’ green and white jersey.

“I will be very proud for my son to represent my Country Nigeria,” Augustina Stockbrink said in a chat.

“Germany has a lot of players however I want him to play for Nigeria because he was born and brought up in Germany so representing Nigeria will give him more opportunity to be part of his root. It won’t be out of place for him to switch nationality and play for Nigeria. He loves the country and he would like to get an invitation to play for the Nigerian National team soon. It would be great to play for Nigeria.” She said

“I know there are a lot of quality players and competition in every position but David is not bothered by that because it is part of his job to fight for a shirt if given a chance.”

On David’s favourite Eagles player, the mother of the 16-year-old said, “Victor Osimhien is his favourite among the Eagles players and maybe that has to do with the fact that they play in the same position.”

David Stockbrink who currently plays for FC Monchengladbach Football Academy, graduating from U13 and U15 district selection in Bundesliga, was born in Cologne on October 30th, 2006.

David is strongly connected to Nigeria through his mother, Augustina Ogonne Agbon, who is a native of Umunede, Ika North East LGA, Delta State.

Recently, David has caught the eye with his stellar performances and questions about his future has led him to indicate he’s open to invitations from Nigeria.
