Liga F’: Super Falcons Trio Suffers Loss In Tenerife’s Match Against Levante

In a high-octane clash on Matchday 8 of the 2023-24 Spanish Primera División Femenina, the Super Falcons’ trio of Gift Monday, Esther Okoronkwo and Rinsola Babajide showed their resilience despite their team, UD Tenerife Femenino falling to a heavy defeat at Levante Las Planas Femenino.

The match ended 3-1 in favor of Levante Femenino, who defended their home ground at Camp Municipal Les Planes on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

The Nigerian trio, Monday, Okoronkwo, and Babajide, exhibited tenacity and skill throughout the game, but Levante’s disciplined performance secured them the win.

As reported last week by that Gift Monday netted a brace for UD Tenerife in their Matchday 7 fixture against Atletico Madrid, however, she continued to push her limits but was contained by a resolute Levante side.

Both Esther Okoronkwo and Gift Monday initiated several attacking plays, combining well in their forward efforts, albeit missing some close attempts early in the game.

Despite their concerted efforts, Tenerife struggled to breach Levante’s defense, instead, they conceded two goals within the first 27 minutes of the first half.

The relentless push by Gift Monday particularly proved a challenge for Levante, forcing the defenders to resort to fouls to contain her impact on the game.

In a late substitution, Rinsola Babajide was introduced in the 67th minute, attempting to turn the tide for UD Tenerife.

Her involvement led to a momentary resurgence as she contributed to reducing the deficit, providing an assist to Jassina Blom for a goal in the 78th minute.

Despite Babajide’s energetic attempts to alter the scoreline, Levante managed to secure their lead with Anissa Lahmari’s late goal, sealing the match 3-1.

UD Tenerife Femenino now sit in the 7th position on the Spanish Primera División Femenina league table, accumulating 12 points in 8 games, trailing the league leaders, Barcalona by 12 points.

The Nigerian stars exhibited resilience and determination, contributing their best efforts despite the outcome. As the season progresses, all eyes remain on their remarkable performances in the Spanish league
