NWFL premiership Champions Rivers Angels Arrive Abidjan For WAFU Cup Elimination Series

2020/2021 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Champions Rivers Angels arrived in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, venue of the West African Football Union (WAFU-B) Zonal Qualifiers for TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League on Thursday.

The Nigerian sole representative left Port Harcourt on Wednesday after a sent forth was organised for them with a cash promise of one million Naira per goal handed the team by the Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

After arriving in Lagos on Wednesday, the team jetted out of Nigeria and safely arrived in Abidjan ahead of their first game on Saturday.

The tournament which was postponed by a week will now hold from July 24 to August 5 in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.

Rivers Angels are grouped alongside Hasaacas Ladies FC (Ghana) and AS Police de Niamey (Niger) in group B.

The two finalists from the WAFU-B Zone will represent the zone at the Inaugural TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Champions League in Egypt later in the year.
