NWFL Premiership Gets Kick Off Date Admist Boardroom Promotion, Unusual Draw Outcry

The Nigerian Women Football League the body responsible for running the elite division of the women’s league in Nigeria announced the official date the NWFL Premiership will commence for the 2023/2024 season tobexmedia.com reports.

The November 15 ,2023 kick off date announcement came after the league body held her Annual General Meeting in Ikeja, Lagos State on Thursday.

The league body also announced the promotion of two more teams Sunshine Queens and Ekiti Queens into the Premiership via AGA approval, this brings the team to 16 from the original 14 teams.

The Premiership will be an abridge league of two groups of 8 teams.
The women football community also for the first time witnessed a draw without seeding the top teams.

A top Women football coach was quick in condemning such an unprofessional action.

” Before any draw , teams should be seeded. We are still lacking in technicalities “.
He raised concerns that the first three teams in the Super Six last season are all in the same group, hereby narrowing the chances of a quality team emerging league champion. This outcome will be detrimental to the nation in the continent he explained further.
