NWFL: ”We Approached The Game like a World Cup Finals”, – Wemimo Matthew

Sunshine Queens of Akure gaffer who also is one of the assistant coaches of the Super Falcons of Nigeria , Wemimo Matthew has exclusively revealed that she is excited that her girls where able to defeat Nasarawa Amazon to book the final slot for the super six slated to take place between 19th to 25th of April 2021 in Ijebu Ode.

“I am happy, I am so excited as we needed Confluence Queens to lose or draw, while we needed to win. So today’s game was more or less like we were playing in the world cup final”.

“We didn’t desire any other results but the 3 points. With our 3 points in the bag, we can now wait for the result in Lagos, which they drew, which is to our advantage”.

“Today’s game was perfectly okay. In previous games, we squandered a lot of chances and today also, we created chances as usual and we were able to convert 3, which is definitely a sign of improvement, She concluded’.

Goals from Yakubu Aminat, Ogbonna Akudo and Sunday Abigail condemned the Solid babes to their sixth defeat which ultimately ended their dreams of playing in the super 6 of the NWFL.
