The Super Falcons will on Tuesday (today) at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja face Ethiopia in the second leg of the second round of the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifier.


The Super Falcons played a 1-1 draw with Lucy, as the Ethiopian women’s senior team are known, in the first leg of the doubleheader at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, Addis Ababa last Wednesday and will hope to get a win in Abuja today with an eye on the winners of the other game between Cameroon and Uganda as they head for the final round of the qualification series.
The Falcons failed to qualify for the 2012, 2016 and 2020 editions of the Olympics in London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo respectively but are desperate to book a place at next year’s event in Paris.
Speaking on behalf of the team, Saudi Arabia based Goalkeeper Tochukwu Oluehi assured Nigerians of victory, when they face the Lucy of Ethiopia later today.
The experienced Goalie noted that , she and her teammates knows what is at stake, after the team has failed to qualify for three consecutive Olympics.
“We know what this game is all about and we won’t let the Nation down ,” Oluehi said in the presence of her teammates and NFF President Ibrahim Gusau.
“Everyone knows we haven’t qualified for the last three Olympics and for us, this is a great chance to get it right in the right direction.
“We will give our all and assure we get the ticket to Paris 2024.” She assured.
Tochukwu Oluehi is the only member of the present squad that has represented Nigeria at the Olympics. She was part of the Super Falcons Squad to the 2008 Beijing Olympics game.
The Super Falcons will play against the Ethiopia Women National team on Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, by 4pm.
