Super Falcons Forward Asisat Oshoala Reveals Turning Point In Her Football Career.

FC Barcelona Femeni Star Asisat Oshoala has revealed that she played football for fun as a young player but that state of mind changed when she had the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2014 (Canada).

It was a revelation tournament for her, Which made her change her mind and take football seriously.

“The 2014 Under-20 Women’s World Cup was the year I won the golden Boot and the golden ball , it was the year I decided to play professional football and take Footbl more serious.

“Initially I was just playing football for fun because I like the game and had passion for it but it wasn’t what I wanted to do professionally”.

The five time CAF Women Footballer of the year explained that after the World Cup she made up her mind taking the game seriously and it was at that point her parents decided to give their support.

Asisat stated that, just like every other African Parents, her Parents wanted her to do well in school and not play Football, but her father later had a change of mind after watching her impressive performance in Canada, during the FIFA U-20 World Cup, where she was awarded the best player and the highest goal scorer with 7 goals.

The prolific striker and the former Captain of the Super Falcons is a core player of the 9 times Women African Cup Of Nations(WAFCON) Champions as they prepare for the 2023 World Cup in Australia & New Zealand.

Asisat Oshoala has scored a goal each in the last 2 FIFA Women’s World Cup and is optimistic of adding value to her team by scoring goals in Australia and taking the team to a greater height.
