In a challenging matchday nine fixture of the 2023-24 Spanish Primera División Femenina league, the Super Falcons trio comprising Gift Monday, Rinsola Babajide, and Esther Okoronkwo faced a setback as their side, UD Tenerife Femenino, suffered a 1-0 defeat against Levante Femenino at the Campo de Fútbol de Adeje Stadium.

Esther Okoronkwo remained on the bench for the entire duration of the game, while Gift Monday, starting the match, displayed commendable effort but found it challenging to break through Levante’s solid defense. Despite being at the heart of some well-executed team plays, the former Bayelsa Queens attacker couldn’t contribute to putting Tenerife on the scoreboard. She was eventually substituted in the 82nd minute, making way for María José Pérez..

Rinsola Babajide, who entered the game in the 66th minute, immediately made her impact felt by establishing good chemistry with her teammates. In the 75th minute, she tested Levante’s goalkeeper with a very nice shot, but unfortunately, it was saved.
Despite their efforts, Levante secured the victory with a goal by Alba Redondo in the 49th minute of the encounter.
The defeat places the Super Falcons trio and their Tenerife teammates in the 9th position on the league table, with 12 points from nine games out of a possible 27. Looking ahead, they will aim for redemption in their next fixture, an away game against Villarreal next weekend, where they will strive to secure all three points.
