The United States U-19 Men’s National team Coach, Micheal Nsien shared his thoughts with NSM on the performance of the Super Falcons at last month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Nigerian Women National team lost to the Lionesses of England in the round of 16 of the World Cup via penalties, after missing goalscoring opportunities in regular time.

Nigeria did well in the group stage, defeating Co-hosts Australia and picking two draws against Canada and Ireland to finish second in group B, before losing 4-2 to England on penalties, this Nsien thinks was a very good World Cup for the Nigerian Ladies.

“The World Cup did bring bright light to the Nigerian players. They worked really hard together to achieve a successful outing and this speaks about the credibility of the technical crew, as well as the players ability to handle adversity.

“We have a great group of talented players everywhere in the World and I think their progress has been remarkable.”

The Super Falcons secured the tenth position in the rankings at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, as a result of their outstanding performance and the specific circumstances
