Nigeria’ legendary sprinter and Olympic champion Enefiok Udo Obong, in his commitment to develop, expose, and offer strategic funding to athletes, has called for applications from various Athletics clubs in Nigeria for grants.
Obong through his academy, the Udo Obong Athletics Academy recently called for applications from various athletics clubs in Nigeria for financial grants.
The beneficiaries are entitled to one million Naira per Athletics club and a maximum of 5 clubs as beneficiaries.
The criteria for beneficiaries were meticulously also stated , the eligibility indices include but are not limited to , confirmation letter from the Athletics Federation of Nigeria , a minimum strength of 15 athletes per club capturing sprints , throws , Jumps , distance events and some other related criteria.
This progressive and allievation exercise is aimed at fulfilling a core goal of the Udo Obong Athletics Academy, which captures identify, nurturing, and supporting athletes’ talent across Nigeria through structured development programmes and strategic funding initiatives.
The application deadline is on the 31st of January 2026, supporting document by the intending clubs should be channelled to [email protected]
Udo Obong has made significant contributions beyond athletics. He has earned an advanced Master’s degree in sports administration and technology from Ecole Polytechnic Federation de laussane in Switzerland.
He is currently serving as the technical advisor of the Saudi Arabia Athletic development programme, where he led the Arabian team to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
In his home land, Nigeria, he served as the technical director Athletics for the first edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state in 2025.
