As the ruthless Edo Queens FC of Benin City intensify preparations for their second fixture in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B Qualifying tournament, stand-in Technical Manager Kennedy Boboye has assured Nigerians that the team is primed for victory against Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas.
Following a blistering start to their campaign, Coach Boboye emphasized that the Nigerian champions will approach this highly anticipated encounter with the exact same winning mentality that saw them decimate Niger Republic’s AS Garde Nationale earlier in the week.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Boboye expressed absolute confidence in his squad, noting that their current goal-scoring form is a direct result of rigorous preparation.
Despite the team’s commanding form and a clean bill of health, Boboye was quick to caution his players against complacency, warning that the Ivorian champions will present a significantly tougher challenge.
“We are ready for the game against the Côte d’Ivoire champions. We have no injury concerns; we are mentally ready, and the girls are in great shape. However, I have told them not to expect anything cheap or easy. Our opponents are no pushovers. We must be cautious and highly focused going up against the Ivorians.”
The game against the former champions will take place at the Stade du 4 Août in Burkina Faso, with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 PM local time. A victory over ASEC Mimosas will mathematically guarantee Edo Queens their qualification ticket for the next stage of the tournament.
