Ahudiyannem Queens FC secured third place at the 2026 Governor Diri Women’s Pre-Season Football Tournament after edging hosts Bayelsa Queens FC 8–7 on penalties following a goalless draw at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

The victory marked a resilient comeback for Ahudiyannem Queens, who bounced back from consecutive defeats to Rivers Angels and a heartbreaking semi-final penalty loss to Delta Queens.
Despite missing out on their primary target of reaching the final, the Queens displayed remarkable composure in a tightly contested match, holding their nerve in the shootout to seal a bronze-medal finish.

Technical Adviser Adanna Nwaneri Anah praised the team’s mental fortitude following the match:
”This victory is so amazing, so beautiful. In fact, I don’t know how to describe it—it is truly overwhelming. I am happy and deeply grateful for this opportunity to celebrate.”
Ahudiyannem Queens enjoyed a strong overall tournament, having previously topped Group B with a perfect nine points. Striker Temitope Owoeye added to the team’s achievements by finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, while Nasarawa Amazons retained the title after defeating Delta Queens 1–0 in the final.
The third-place finish provides positive momentum and crucial preparation for Ahudiyannem Queens as they look ahead to the 2026/2027 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
