BOWFT: Celebrating Sabina Chikere, An Embodiment of Leadership By Example

The Head of Sports, Office of the Deputy Governor, Edo State, Mrs. Sabina Chikere, was swept off her feet with a surprise birthday party on Wednesday organised by her staff. A gathering which had in attendance Honourable Frank Ilaboya , Media Officer of the Super Falcons, Oluchi Tobe-Chukwu, Media Officer of the Flamingos Faith Oluchi, Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor’s office, Mr. Musa Ehbomhahia, Director of Sports, Ms Faith Irabor, players of Edo Queens and LOC members of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, were all on ground to make the day memorable for her.

Mrs. Sabina Chikere, who is also the Chairperson of the LOC Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament was in awe as she witnessed the out pouring of love and prayers on the day.

Chikere in an exclusive interview with tobexmedia.com was full of appreciation to God, members of staff and every one that made her day memorable.
“The testimony by almost everyone about my person humbled me and threw points to the fact that a leader should lead by example.

“Edo State is setting the pace by investing in sports and I am happy to be part of the history.

“We hope at the conclusion of the maiden edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, that, it should be graded the best women preseason tournament in Nigeria and indeed in Africa,” She concluded.

The Tournament continues today, Thursday, September 30, with FC Robo and Rivers Angels slugging it out for leadership of Group B at the Uniben Sports Complex by 10am, Edo Queens battling against Heartland Queens and Bayelsa Queens against Sunshine Queens all at the Uniben Sports Complex, Ugbowo.

Oluchi Tobe-Chukwu popularly known as tobex is the Vice chairman of Sports writers Association of Nigeria , lagos Chapter. She Is also the Media Spokesperson of the Super Falcons of Nigeria. She is an award winning women's football writer. Tobex is also an ex footballer that was privileged to play in the first NFF organised women's league in 1990 as a player of Hamza Queens. Her last club as an active footballer was Ibom Angels as She paved way to further her education years ago. She is a Federal Government scholar , with a degree in Mass communication, a second degree in Public Relations and Advertising (Communication Studies). She is a Wife and Mother.
