Dr. Christian Emeruwa has issued a firm and unambiguous public statement to permanently shut down ongoing speculations linking him to the position of General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). In a strongly worded declaration, the former NFF presidential candidate made it crystal clear that he has absolutely no interest in the role, neither now nor in the past, and warned against further public postulations regarding his career trajectory within the federation.
Emeruwa recalled that this is not the first time his name has been attached to the NFF secretariat. Four years ago, while actively contesting for the NFF Presidency, he was offered the General Secretary position—an offer he promptly and decisively rejected. He explained that becoming General Secretary was not the reason he entered the race for the leadership of Nigerian football, noting that four years later, his position has not changed. Despite his consistent stance over the years, rumors have continued to circulate, prompting this definitive public rebuttal. He emphasized that he has not sought the position, has never expressed any interest in it, and has not authorized any third party to canvass, negotiate, or speak on his behalf.
Addressing the media directly, Emeruwa singled out a recent speculative report by sports journalist Sam Audu. He confirmed that he has personally reached out to Audu to clarify his absolute disinterest in the role and is currently awaiting a formal retraction of the published story.
