Col. Ahmedu Praise Warriors On Winning Diaspora Basketball League

Days after Warriors Basketball Academy, Ilupeju, U17 Boys Team won the Diaspora Care Sports Foundation Basketball League, defeating Rivers Angels of Lagos in the Finals, the celebrations have not stopped.

An elated Col. Sam Ahmedu(Rtd), who is the proprietor and president of Warriors Basketball Programme in Nigeria, remarked, ” We’re proud of our young guns who made us proud by winning the U-17 championship, as well as, the coaches for doing a great job on the lads.”

“The Warriors programme will continue to groom young male and female basketball players without fanfare. Our pedigree in grooming young players dates back to 1994 and still on going.

” This programme has produced the likes of Charles Okwandu ( NCAA National Champion with UCONN), Daniel Ochefu ( NCAA National Champion with Villanova), Olumide Oyedeji (ex NBA), Akpan Nkereuwem, Bob Walter, Benson Egemonye, Sunday Akowe, Jeff Varem, Michael Eric ( CSKA Moscow) Deji Egbeyemi, Dinma Odiakosa, Dele Coker, Uchenna Nsonwu, Fred Oguns, Lee Enobakhare, Akin Akingbala, who went on to have stella NCAA and Pro careers, to mention a few are a pointer. And this good work continues, albeit silently.

Ahmedu went on to enjoin the coaches and officials involved in the programme not to relent in their commitment of providing the basketball loving youths, the foundation they need to excel on and off the basketball court.

While wishing everyone a Merry Christmas celebrations, he specially thanked Coaches Peter Ahmedu, Dosu Mensah, Dele Akinwale, Carter, Ojah, Simon Akowe and other officials for their laudable efforts.
