Flying officers cup 2021: We are not here to joke but to defend our title – Aduku emphasises despite loss to FC Robo

Defending Champions of the Flying Officers Cup, Bayelsa Queens suffered a 1-0 loss to FC Robo Queens in its opening match of the 2021 edition.

Despite the defeat, Bayelsa Queens gaffer, Moses Aduku says the team are in Abuja to defend their title during his post match reaction.

“We are not here to joke but to defend the title. Losing a match does not mean we have lost out of the competition so we are going back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and come out on Wednesday to do what we know how to do best.”

“For me, it’s not a bad game. We are like rivals meeting in every competition. The 90 minutes was explosive for both sides. They got their chance and took it. We had ours and didn’t take it. All the same, I give kudos to the girls for putting up a good fight with no disgrace. We are in there and give all our best to score. Sometimes, we can do much to score but if that is not your day. That is how it is.

Both sides have met twice in the league, Aiteo Cup final, and during the Inaugural Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament in Benin City where Bayelsa Queens defeated FC Robo Queens.

Aduku relishes his experience at Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament stating that his team utilised their chances during the last encounter of both sides.

He said: “Football is not magic. In the second half, we had some good scoring opportunities but the goal wasn’t going in. That is football, you can’t score everyday but I love the fighting spirit from beginning to the end. In Benin City we, we had our chances and took them. FC Robo Queens scored us first in Benin City but we had our chances and took them and defeated them over there.” He concluded.
